Linear Bayes Estimation of a Cumulative Hazard
We propose a linear Bayes estimator of the cumulative hazard of a survival distribution, based on iid survival times, possibly right censored and left truncated. The resulting estimator is recognized as an exact Bayes estimator under more restrictive model assumptions and verified to have the minimax property.
متن کاملCumulative hazard: The case of nuisance flooding
The cumulative cost of frequent events (e.g., nuisance floods) over time may exceed the costs of the extreme but infrequent events for which societies typically prepare. Here we analyze the likelihood of exceedances above mean higher high water and the corresponding property value exposure for minor, major, and extreme coastal floods. Our results suggest that, in response to sea level rise, nui...
متن کاملEmpirical likelihood for cumulative hazard ratio estimation with covariate adjustment.
In medical studies, it is often of scientific interest to evaluate the treatment effect via the ratio of cumulative hazards, especially when those hazards may be nonproportional. To deal with nonproportionality in the Cox regression model, investigators usually assume that the treatment effect has some functional form. However, to do so may create a model misspecification problem because it is ...
متن کاملMethods for comparing cumulative hazard functions in a semi-proportional hazard model.
Graphical methods based on the analysis of differences between log cumulative hazard functions are considered for a two-group semi-proportional hazard model which allows for interaction between treatments and covariates. Confidence procedures and test statistics that can be used to test for interaction and for main effects are developed. Their use is illustrated by applying them to the analysis...
متن کاملCumulative incidence estimates in the presence of competing risks.
When competing risks are present, the appropriate estimate of the failure probabilities is the cumulative incidence. stcompet creates new variables containing the estimate of this function, its standard error, and ln(− ln) transformed confidence bounds. Two examples are presented to illustrate the use of the new command and some key features of the cumulative incidence.
